The Construction Process

The point of this project is not just to see who can make the fastest dragster, but to let you see that before you make something you need to research and gather information. Therefore, giving you the knowledge and understanding to be able build the best dragster possible (possibly the fastest in the world).
  1. First thing you need to do is consider what you already know about CO2, dragsters, aerodynamics & racing. Put this information into a list or use Bubbl.us to create a mind map
  2. Next you will need to go onto the internet or into the library and research CO2, dragsters, aerodynamics & racing, to increase your knowledge and understanding of these areas. Add what you find to your list or mind map.
  3.  Now you will have to setup your own blog site to document your progress throughout this project. Enter the information you have already gained and any other info you may feel relevant.
  4. With your blog done, now you need to reflect on what you have just learnt, and how your previous understanding compares to your new understanding; What was Positive, Negative and Interesting about gaining this new information, and how will it help you to create a better dragster.
  5. Now Research. You need to search the internet and library to find any information that will help you to create the greatest design possible. Look for ideas that utilise the information that you have already gained. Best design for aerodynamics, co2 properties, weight, strength and anything else you can think of that will help.
  6.  The fun starts now! Start sketching your design ideas. REMEMBER check the specs. Sketches don't need to be that accurate but you must consider the limitations put on your design. Be creative, think outside the square.
  7. Spread the love around; show as many people as you can, to get their opinions on your design. They may give you some good ideas or pick a problem that you may have missed. When critiquing someones design remember to be constructive and polite; you wouldn't like someone laughing at your design.
  8. With the ideas and comments of your fellow students you can start getting into a more precise final drawing.
  9. Finish off your final design drawing so your ready to start the constructing next lesson.
  10. Start constructing. I'll show you techniques that will help you to shape your dragster. The construction needs to be finished within 4 weeks. Then we race!
  11. RACE DAY!!! Four weeks of construction complete now it's time to race.
